Cornerstone Chamber Choir and Orchestra arose out of a group of musicians who came together in 1992 to perform choral and operatic excerpts. The concert was an outstanding success and raised over £5,000 for a Romanian Charity. A recording of this concert was broadcast by BBC Radio early in 1993.
The Choir and Orchestra have gone from strength to strength performing Vivaldi's Gloria, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Monteverdi's Vespers, Britten's Saint Nicolas, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Magnificant, St Matthew and St John Passions, Haydn's Creation, Mozart's, Brahm's and Faures Requiems, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Sullivan's Trial by Jury, Britten's Saint Nicholas and Rutter's Magnificat, Requiem and Gloria, Tippett's A Child of Our Time, Poulenc's Glorai and Verdi's Requiem to mark the composer's centenary. In July we held a very successful 25th Anniversary Celebration concert. Our next concert is on Sunday 21st January 2018 at 7.30pm: MOZART CELEBRATION CONCERT, featuring The Great Mass in C minor, Exsultate Jubilate, Vespers and Piano Concerto in D minor with soloist Craig Greene.
In addition the Orchestra has given a number of fine concerts in it's own right with some outstanding young soloists.
